FAQ
Q: If I Choose Disposal Systems Inc. as my tank removal contractor, what happens after I sign my quote?
A: After we obtain your signed agreement, the project typically proceeds as follows:
- We apply for your local permit
- We obtain utility markout through New Jersey “One Call”
- We schedule the project with you and the local inspector once we have been issued the permit
- Contents of tank (oil / water / sludge) are vacuumed out prior to any additional work, eliminating any chance of spills or leaks during removal process
- Excavation of tank proceeds by exposing the top of the UST and cutting an access hole
One of our technicians enters the UST and removes any residual oil or sludge
- The tank is then removed from the ground and cleaned for inspection
- The local inspector will examine the UST / AST for any holes or pitting, or stained soils around the former UST
- Once the inspection is complete, the inspector will grant permission to backfill the excavation to grade
- UST / AST will be disposed of at a recycling facility and scrap receipts are obtained
- All oil, water or sludge from the UST / AST will be brought to a state licensed recycling facility and receipts for materials obtained
- A closure package is assembled containing all permits and waste records and a copy is provided for the homeowner’s records, while another is presented to the municipality
