Q: If I Choose Disposal Systems Inc. as my tank removal contractor, what happens after I sign my quote?
A: After we obtain your signed agreement, the project typically proceeds as follows:

  1. We apply for your local permit
  2. We obtain utility markout through New Jersey “One Call”
  3. We schedule the project with you and the local inspector once we have been issued the permit
  4. Contents of tank (oil / water / sludge) are vacuumed out prior to any additional work, eliminating any chance of spills or leaks during removal process
  5. Excavation of tank proceeds by exposing the top of the UST and cutting an access hole
  6. access holeOne of our technicians enters the UST and removes any residual oil or sludge
  7. The tank is then removed from the ground and cleaned for inspection
  8. The local inspector will examine the UST / AST for any holes or pitting, or stained soils around the former UST
  9. Once the inspection is complete, the inspector will grant permission to backfill the excavation to grade
  10. UST / AST will be disposed of at a recycling facility and scrap receipts are obtained
  11. All oil, water or sludge from the UST / AST will be brought to a state licensed recycling facility and receipts for materials obtained
  12. A closure package is assembled containing all permits and waste records and a copy is provided for the homeowner’s records, while another is presented to the municipality
